Fighting games may be the most popular genre again, but the people who love that genre are the most loyal gamers. Unfortunately, fighting games are not as popular or successful on Android as many expected, and there are not many great options. 2018 saw a big release and a few more since then. However, if you want competitive fun, you want an emulator. Anyway, if you want to shoot, this is the best fighting game for Android.
We also want to give a big shout out to Footsies (Google Play). This fighter is very simple but addictive.
Brawl Stars

Conflict stars can be quite a reach. The game is a bit more down-to-earth than an actual fighter, but has many of the same suspenseful elements. You and several others play PvP online against a total of three opponents. You have to defeat them and complete the objective. However, this game only has a battle mode where you fight to the death. The fighting genre isn’t full of great titles, but we think it’s good to kill five minutes.
Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla is a fun fighting game. It plays a lot like Super Smash Bros. Players play on small platforms with ledges that can fade or fall. Different characters have different attacks and abilities similar to Super Smash Bros. In addition, the on-screen controls are customizable and there are several different game modes. This archer fighter is very fun in short bursts. There are also 50 characters that always come in more.

Injustice: Gods Among Us 1 and 2 are two of the most popular fighting games on mobile. However, like most popular fighting games, the mechanics of both are a bit clunky. This often happens several times until someone wins. In addition to this, a decent list of DC Comics characters, in-game things to do, and online multiplayer. Mortal Kombat is a fighter with almost the same mechanics from Warner Bros. Neither of these games is perfect, but both are decent time killers.
The King of Fighters ALLSTAR

King of Fighters ALLSTAR is one of the newer fighting games on our list. It takes place in the KoF universe and features many characters from different games. It’s a bit of a button masher, but has more control options than the likes of Mortal Kombat X or Injustice 2. The game also features online PvP, co-op and campaign modes. People seem to like it, except for the lag problem when playing PvP games. Other than that, it’s a free-to-play fighter.
Punch Boxing 3D

Punch Boxing 3D is the first of several boxing games on this list. Like most boxing games, the gameplay is slower than the fighters and you rely more on blocks and punches than movement. The graphics are good and the controls work as intended. It’s unfortunate that your controls are basically limited to blocking and hitting, but sometimes it is. The sound is too bad. You can also level up your character by fighting in the gym, and there are various accessories that can be unlocked.
Real Boxing 2

Real Boxing 2 (formerly Real Boxing 2 Rocky) is a sequel to one of the best fighting games ever. As you battle, you’ll play as (and against) famous characters. There is also a lot of work to be done. You can challenge other fighters, participate in mini games, boss battles, and even create your own character. It has power-ups and gear and can turn the tide of war for better or worse. The controls are excellent as are the graphics. There are also social mechanics in the form of leaderboards and giveaways.
Real Steel series

Real Steel is a series of robot fighting games from Reliance Games. Unlike many, this title has backwards style combat controls. So you have to move and attack yourself. There are four games in the Robot Wars series, each with its own mechanics, look, and things to do. The popular Real Steel World Robot Boxing includes customization, multiplayer and several other game modes. The latest adventure game is World Robot Boxing 2, which is getting good reviews. This is on the high end of the fighting game spectrum.

Shadow Fight Arena is the latest in the popular fighting game series. It’s a little different than before, but still a good fighter. You play as one character and you will go up against the AI and other players. The controls are quite simple and may be lacking for serious fighting fans. However, there is not enough here for casual players. If you want to play old games, previous games in the franchise are also great.
Skullgirls

Skullgirls is a bit of a diamond in the rough. It’s not mentioned in the same conversations as Street Fighter or KoF, but people seem to like this one. The game brands itself as a 2D fighting RPG with mechanics from both genres. You collect a variety of characters, level them up, and then use them to beat up other people. The game is a bit heavier on the RPG elements than it is fighter elements, but there are enough controls there to scratch that itch. The online PvP has some problems, including the occasional lopsided match-up, but otherwise it seems like an enjoyable little RPG fighter.
Street Fighter IV Champion Edition

Street Fighter IV Champion Edition is one of the biggest fighting games of 2018. However, it is not without its problems. The full game has a decent selection of characters and realistic combat mechanics. It is also slightly hacked but includes functional features such as Bluetooth controller support and online PvP. To be honest, it still needs some work. However, Capcom struggled with many updates in the first few weeks of release. Most of the issues were resolved in the first year and the Google Play rating seems to have bounced back from a very low score since then.
Streets of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4 is a remaster of the original game from 25 years ago. Includes classic beat mechanics. You choose a character, move around the level and fight bad guys to avoid getting hit. The remaster includes multiple characters, several different game modes, secret levels, and extras. Decent game and what you would expect. You move from level to level as bad guys occasionally crawl to take you out. Use your best moves to eliminate them and end the war. There is also additional DLC available for $2.99.
The game has some flaws. Some users report a tendency to crash at startup if we don’t address this issue during testing. The only thing we have is the occasional frame drop when there is a lot going on on the screen.
